Garrett Park, MD. Councilwoman Nancy Floreen was a guest speaker at our troop meeting on November 8, 2010, and said we were great, but our parents were pathetic for having such a low turnout at the recent elections. She talked to us on Citizenship, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. She stressed that we should not feel shy about sharing a good idea with someone who can help. “You have to learn to communicate, but you guys can make a difference. And I’m not kidding,” she said, “Always remember that.”

Rockville, MD, September 13, 2010. Despite the tasty efforts of Chef Lorrie and the scrumptious food brought by the scout parents -- even my father's I-want-more deviled eggs -- the real star of this year's Ken-Gar picnic was the marshmallow shootout. Mrs Ferry brought two Marshmallow Crossbows with her, Jack made a target, and the rest was history (although the losers are demanding a rematch). Also, I think I saw SM Mader signing up a new scout, so the picnic was a success.
