Welcome !

Welcome to Troop 463!
Troop 463 has served the communities surrounding Garrett Park, Maryland for nearly 50 years. We meet on Mondays from 7:30pm-9pm during the school year at Holy Cross Church on Strathmore Ave. Our goal is to deliver a hands-on experience of leadership training through a program that combines high adventure opportunities and scout skills with a deep respect for community, country, and the environment. Troop 463 is a safe and welcoming environment where every boy is welcome. For the security of the boys and their families, this website is restricted to individuals who have joined Troop 463. Learn more about the troop by contacting Scoutmaster Michael Casassa at mpcasassa@yahoo.com.

Reported by Saunders J., Troop 463 Scribe

Garrett Park, MD. Councilwoman Nancy Floreen was a guest speaker at our troop meeting on November 8, 2010, and said we were great, but our parents were pathetic for having such a low turnout at the recent elections. She talked to us on Citizenship, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. She stressed that we should not feel shy about sharing a good idea with someone who can help. “You have to learn to communicate, but you guys can make a difference. And I’m not kidding,” she said, “Always remember that.”

Ken-Gar Picnic a Success

Reported by Saunders, Troop 463 Scribe

Rockville, MD, September 13, 2010. Despite the tasty efforts of Chef Lorrie and the scrumptious food brought by the scout parents -- even my father's I-want-more deviled eggs -- the real star of this year's Ken-Gar picnic was the marshmallow shootout. Mrs Ferry brought two Marshmallow Crossbows with her, Jack made a target, and the rest was history (although the losers are demanding a rematch). Also, I think I saw SM Mader signing up a new scout, so the picnic was a success.
